Question 6
6. Conclusion - How has the Industry responded to combat online music Piracy?
Firstly, the music industry has had to respond to piracy as it means people are illegally downlaoding music off of the internet as it is cheaper/free , easier and quicker. Therefore more particle which is beneficial to people interested in having music. Therefore, C.D sales have decreased due to people getting music illegally for free by downloading it through youtube converters, third part websites and torrent downloads. Therefore consequently, the music industry has had to react to combat online piracy as it means they would loose money otherwise as there main purchase of sales which was C.D's has now decreased in sales which means they have had to turn to to other conclusions. Therefore, they responded by increasing the price of tickets for music-events such as festivals, shows, concerts. This allowed them to receive a profit as they loose sales form C.D's. As artists are reluctant to produce music as the money being earn't has gone down and there for they have had to charge more at concerts and the such events to cover the loss. Additionally they have dropped the price of CD's to cover costs and to get more people buying CD's again because the price of music on the internet is low and they have to compensate for this. Additionally, music companies have tired to make purchasing CD's fashionable. For example, retro, urban style. This allows an increase in purchase of CDs so that they can cover costs for poepel that no logner buy C.ds but download instead.
